Launch of new kitchen garden at Kallista Primary school

We just spent a lovely afternoon at Kallista Primary school for the launch of their new kitchen. The school is part of Stephanie Alexander's Kitchen Garden Foundation. The aim of the program is for children around the country to get their hands dirty and learn how to grow, harvest, prepare and share fresh, seasonal food. At Kallista Primary School the new kitchen overlooks the vegie garden, so the children can walk directly from the garden into the kitchen to start cooking.

The Porch supplied the custom-made cypress pine tables which sit on the verandah between the kitchen and the garden, and we are very proud to be part of such a fantastic program.

The garden benches are really great for the Kallista Primary garden kitchen setting.

Thanks for helping out on this too and supporting our local school.

Hello,
My name is Jeff Howdy. I am from Alaska. This is a very innovative program .. Very nice indeed.. Children would get to learn something out of their textbook world.

Thanks for the comment Jeff. It is a great program and is becoming more and more popular here in Australia. The kids love it because they get to get there hands dirty and the parents love it because the kids eat their vegetables!
